More than 100 houses razed by Fire Incident



Pagadian City (Feb. 4, 2019) – More than 100 houses were razed by Fire incident transpired at Purok Bakhaw B, Barangay Kawit, Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 9:00 AM of February 03, 2019.

Initial investigation conducted disclosed that fire originated from the house owned by Certain Neneng Dupio wherein accordingly the latter cook a fried banana where she left the frying pan unattended with boiling oil.

As the pan burst into fire it engulfed the house made of light materials. The fire spread to the neighboring houses.

Upon arrival by the responding Bureau of Fire Personnel, the above-mentioned house was already raze to the ground scattered to the adjacent houses that resulted to the burning of more or less One Hundred (100) household owners/residents (fire victims) as the area was of informal settlers.

PNP personnel of Pagadian City Police Station facilitated the traffic direction and control and prevented possible looters while the personnel of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) extinguished the fire and process the crime scene.

The BFP declared the fire control at about 10:30 in the morning and fire out at about 12:03 in the afternoon of same date.

The bureau is now conducting in-depth investigation regarding the incident while estimated total damage cost is more or less of One Million Pesos (₱1,000,000.00) with no persons physically injured.

Officials of the Barangay Kawit are now consolidating the number of families affected.
